
Dr. Elizabeth Joy is a nationally recognized leader in family, sports and lifestyle medicine, with decades of experience advancing the role of physical activity in healthcare. She holds a B.S. and M.D. from the University of Minnesota and an M.P.H. from the University of Utah. Dr. Joy completed her Family Medicine Residency and Sports Medicine Fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Dr. Joy is the Past President of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Female Athlete Triad Coalition. She currently chairs the Exercise is Medicine® Governance Board. Her professional work and research have focused on diabetes prevention, physical activity promotion, and the Female Athlete Triad. Dr. Joy is a passionate advocate for integrating exercise into clinical care and has helped shape national strategies to connect healthcare systems with qualified exercise professionals — particularly in support of older adult health and independence.
